I have installed a WAS 640 on UNIX
When prompted for the instance RAM and SWAP I overallocated.
How can I rectify this? Profile params?
How can I test the corrections?

You can always change in the instance profiles and also you could verify with memlimits.

Could you give me an idea of what params to change and how they relate back to instance memory and instance swap?
Also what am I looking for in memlimits?

As aditi earlier pointed out, you can change the memory
parameters using the profiles and test using memlimits
test program.
