Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) and UCC/EAN Integration

In SPRO, the International Article Numbers (EANs)are configured and you can define Attributes of EANs/UPCs. There is a place to define Prefixes for EANs/UPCs. Is this area for use in defining the additional digets for the GTIN? Or will SAP add a field to the MARA table with a check table similar to the arrangement with MARA-EAN11.

Thanks for the reply so I take it the SDN does not address all SAP developer questions just Netweaver. I will also post an OSS note per your suggestion.

You are right. The current focus in SDN is in fact on SAP NetWeaver.
