Signature Design - 7.1 Patch 11 - Memory Use

Hi,

Anyone else having memory issues when using Patch 11?

Have installed Patch 11 for testing. Paging up and down in an ALV grid with tens of thousands of rows results in ever increasing memory use getting to eventually 1.6GB in task manager on a Windows XP machine.

Logging out of the SAP session does not release the memory. Have to shutdown SAPLogon in the system tray before the memory is released.

The exact same test with Patch 6 the memory only gets up 130mb which gets released when logging out of the SAP session.

Hi,

I did the following steps to test the provided hotfix:

Using patch 11:

- Transaction /SAPAPO/SNPOPLOG on SCM4.1

- Scroll up and down for awhile in a ALV grid with 80,000 rows

- Memory used got to 800mb

- Log out of APO and memory not released until shut down saplogon

Install the hotfix and repeated the above steps:

- Memory use peaked at 115mb.

- Memory went down to 40mb when logging out of APO

So this hotfix corrected the issue. Have noticed no other memory issues since applying the hot fix.

I'm the responsible "primary supporter" for this component.

this is a known problem and we have fixed this issue with the sap gui patch 12. Please

pay attention the OSS note #1295487 !

Patch 12 is expected to released in calendar week 09 !

Do you need a Hotfix for this problem? then please open a message in "OSS"

on the component BC-FES-CTL .

Please set the message to High Priority and ask for forwarding at me ( or tell me

the message number here in this forum )

I will then process their message as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your reply.

I have raised customer message 115819 / 2009 .

It would be good to get a hot fix pre the release of patch 12 as within SCM 4.1 for the Optimizer logs there are ALV grids with tens of thousands of rows that cause the memory issue to appear rapidly.

As a further note, so far everything else with Signature Design is very good. It takes about an hour to get used to the different placement of pushbuttons on dialog popups but after that the look and feel is fresh and feels modern and pleasing to use.
