Project MASK (after Finacial Transaction)

Hi;

I need to implement project coding mask.

But the problem is that my projects are released and also financial transactions are been done on them.

I know one Option is to archive and apply mask.. But i am not sure after archiving what impact will be on my financial data after archiving projects.

If there is any other way out (other than Archiving) kindly highlight in detail.

Hi,

While you cannot delete your old coding mask, you can create a new one and change the Number of your project according to the new mask (provided the current Status allows changing the name of project).

whatever be the name, each project is created with an 'Object No' in the system and all financial transactions are with respect to this number only.There will be no impact on the financial transactions at all.

Even the assignment object in POs assigned will change automatically to reflect the new Project/WBS name.

But it still doesnt solve my Problem.

Initially i dont have any coding mask... Now user wants it.

My Projects Start with Prefix "N" . like N01333.000.000

Now system gives message that U can Not Create Coding Mask beginning with "N".

Hmmm...

Try this:

Change names of all your exiting projects to start with some character other than 'N' and save.

Now try creating the mask to start with N.

If successful (-: then later change back all the names as per the mask.
