RFC error in distributed inst.

Dear Experts,

I am trying to install mySAP ECC5 on windows with Oracle 9i on distributed systems . I have followed the below process

AT Host DEVD11

1. Installed oracle client through sapclient.cmd

2. Installed oracle patch 9.2.0.6

3. Installed SAP Central Instance

4. D11 is SID .

At HOST DEVD22

1. Installed Oracle with Sapserver.cmd

2. Installed Oracle patch 9.2.0.6

3. Installing SAP Database Instance

here I have given thesedetails

DATABASE SID DBSID - D22

Database Host - DEVD22

Instance Host - DEVD11

Database schema - SAPD11

Pl. correct if I am wrong any where

I am getting the below error message at phase 31

" ERROR 2009-01-25 03:04:25

FRF-00007 Unable to open RFC connection.

ERROR 2009-01-25 03:04:25

FRF-00063 RFC logon failed with message: Failed:

Connect to SAP gateway failedConnect_PM GWHOST=devd11, GWSERV=sapgw00, ASHOST=devd11, SYSNR=00 "

I have already given hosts file ip entry in both the systems . Both pc's are able to ping each other

through computer name .

One more thing where I can get the information about this Installaion . I have installation guide

with me . But no information is mention there about distributed installation .

Just to add:

I would install Oracle 9.2.0.8 plus the necessary interim patches as of Note 938986 - Oracle Database 9.2: Patches for 9.2.0.

If you install a new system I would rather go for Oracle 10 (10.2.0.4 + Patches) since Oracle 9.2 is already out of maintenance.

Hi,

You made mistake in entering the DB SID.

Distributed installation means single SAPsystem distributed in 2 systems. A SAP system will have only one SID, but as per you in central instance u had given D11 and DB system its D22.

Its not possible at all, SID should be single. Other informations are correct.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have reinstalled both the systems from scaratch and given the same sid D11 and database sid D11 , only host name and ip address is changed .

Hosts file entry in done in both systems

Again the same RFC error is comming at same stage of database instance installation .

Pl. advice .Pl. correct me where I am wrong .

I will update the oracle patch after completing the installation . Pl. advice is it essential to update the patch before starting the database instance installation .I have patched 9.2.0.6 .

Please go for Oracle 10 (10.2.0.4 + Patches) since Oracle 9.2 is already out of maintenance.

Please check env variable set for oracle_home....is that 920\32 or 920_32.

Make sure the passwords of OS level users SAPService<sid> and <sid>adm users have same password in both the systems.

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

please supply file tnsnames.ora from directory mentionned in environement variable TNS_ADMIN. If TNS_ADMIN is not set, checkin directory X:\oracle\SID\102\network\admin

please supply listener.ora from X:\oracle\SID\102\network\admin
