Windows 2008 requires a new kernel - what patchlevel of your kernel do you have installed?

Dear Markus

Even the sap note mentioned is very old 27.06.2007.

Do we have any updated sap note which says that these operating systems are fully supported by SAP now.

Thanks

???

You kernel is even older than that note. If you don't use the mentioned kernel patches, it can't and won't work. If you'd update your kernel, your system can be started.

OS availability is not documented in notes but in the Platform Availability Matrix at http://service.sap.com/pam.

Be aware of the fact, that if you have a Java Addin installed, it is currently not supported under Windows 2008.

Dear Markus

Thanks for the response.

I need to clarify one more thing that suppose we are going for fresh installation of SAP ecc6 on windows 2008 server.

My question is We are not able to install oracle itself through sapserver.cmd. then comes the sap installation then kernel patch update.

So, please suggest me how to rectify the oracle error.

We are going with 10.2.0.0 then patch 10.2.0.2.

sapserver.cmd script is throwing errors.

The installation DVD with Oracle 10.2.0.1 does not work with Windows 2008. You would need to get a DVD set with 10.2.0.3 and upgrade to 10.2.0.4 before you try your installation.

I suggest you open an OSS call under BC-INS and ask if a new DVD for Windows 2008 is available.

I just saw in http://service.sap.com/pam - ERP 6.0 is not yet supported on Windows 2008 with Oracle.

Thanks very much Markus.

Even I was confused with the installation. Now it is confirmed that it is still not supported by SAP.

Thanks a LOT....

Best Regards.

Just to add:

--> FAQ

says - as of now, only SQL Server 2005/2008 is supported.

Hi

You can take the back up with db13 also. There is no problem in it.

But if you want to check the best option then please go with BRTOOLS.

You can back up and restore the database with ease.

Just run brtools and go through each and every option.
