Is XI mandatory to be able to work with ESA?

Hi,

from one of the presentaitons on meets labs I learnt

that XI will be used in many cases as a base software

for many new "ESA-enabled" applications

remember!

you can even install XI on the same instance

as ERP 2004 (from sp12)

so this gives you some idea how often will XI be used

you raised here another question that i have with another customer.

What is the recomendation to install XI on a different machine or on the same machine with the ERP 2004?

hi,

SAP says it's good to install it only

if your message flow is not very large

(but who knows what learge means 1.000 or 50.000 ? per hour/ per day?)

anyway if you paln to use XI as a central message broker

with many applications put XI as a new instance

and not on the same as ERP

do you have experience with such an arcitecture?

My customer hase Control M as the the EAI and XI as an adapter to SAP.

altough volume is not high but i am very concerened about performance since it is my responsibility.

Hi,

no, all of our costomer have XI on seperate box

as the volume is always rather "large"

if you worry about perf use a separate box

what do you call large volume?

a few k per hour

but...

if you have only one k a day (but you need to send ASAP)

in 5 min let's say you may also need to consider using

XI on a separate box

it all depends on exact scenario

Do you know where i can find any benchmark that was done for measuring performance for a single message during stress ?

the best way is to do such a thing yourself:

you can use many stools like: Mercury LoadRunner

for example

and this will show how the messsages behave

in YOUR environment
