SRM 5.0 compatibility with Webdynpro

Deciding whether to implement SRM 5.0, or be a ramp-up customer and install SRM 7.0. Some experts told us that our current WebDynPro environment is incompatible with SRM 5.0. Can anyone shed light on this? Our landscape is: 2004s/7.0, BI 7.0, ECC 6.0.

srm 5.0 as standard does not use any webdynpro ,but it is always possible for you to do custom development using abap webdynpro in SRM 5.0.

i have seen customers using webdynpro to develop thier own webdynpro screens and who are on SRM5.0.

Dear Mark,

SRM Server 5.0 has full support for ABAP WebDynpros. We have so many custom developments in our system using WebDynpros and they work fine (SRM 5.0 / NetWeaver 2004s).

Khan / Mark:

"srm 5.0 as standard does not use any webdynpro ," -> Is not a correct statement. The entire IMS (Invoice Management Solution) in SRM Server 5.0 is built using ABAP WebDynpro's. Please have a look at the below standard WebDynpro applications:

BBP_INV_IMS
BBP_INV_MAIN
BBP_INV_SEARCH

Hope this clears the SRM 5.0 and WebDynpro compatibility issues.

Hello Mark,

you can also utilize Web Dynpro with SRM 5.0, it depends on your basis release.

Concerning SRM 7.0: your ECC system is defently supported, you most properly might need to apply NW 7.0 Enhancement Package 1 (NW 7.01). But independant from that the most important question is which scenarios are you using and what is the benefit of SRM 7.0 versus SRM 5.0 - is there are reason that you would like to do some development with Web Dynpro or does also ready something exist?

The UI changed a lot compared to SRM5, are the endusers already used to it? Additional training when moving to SRM 7.0 might be required. On the other hand you have a tighter integration with your ECC system (again depends on your scenarios) and for the next SRM releases than only EhP needs to be applied (what is easier than a normal upgrade).
