ECC5 installation on Windows and Oracle

Hi Basis/Netweaver Gurus,

i m planning to install a New SAP ECC5 IDES installation.

i have few quesions on this.Can anybody give the answers please.

Deatails:

Central instance host name alfxyz SID is EC5

Database instance hostname alfxyz2 SID is EC6

Can i install ECC5 IDES using above parameters---Yes/NO?

if yes how to connect different SIDs into in one installation?

if No what are the reasons?Please let me know.

Hi,

No, You cant install with 2 different SIDs for a Single SAP Server.

Central and Database Instance SID should be same for a SAP system, hostname may be different.

It is also possible when you do distributed installation, for that u need 2 system.

System1 - Central Instance, System2 - Database Instance.

In this case hostname is different, but you have to use the same database.

i m using 2 different systems and 2 different host.Can you guide me how it is possible?

one is for CI and second one is for DB.

hi Suresh,

when you do distributed installation database server is installed on one system and install client on the other system .sap recommends to use same sid for sap and database but we can use different sids also.
