Netweaver AS Java 7.0 / 7.1 ?

HI there,

we are new to Netweaver AS Java and want to start with Java Development by now. Actually the big question is which version we should/must/have to use for our Java Infrastructure. We are at SAP Netweaver 7.0 AS ABAP but want to use SAP Netweaver 7.1 AS Java because of EJB3.... Is it possible? Are there any recommendations and example scenarios by SAP?

Hi,

It is always recommended to use the same release versions (though it might work in case of different SPs of the same release)

Since 7.0 & 7.1 are different releases and also there are quite a big change in AS, I feel ABAP AS 7.0 will not work with JAVA AS 7.1. With JAVA AS 7.1, you will need to use NWDS CE 7.1 to develop your applications & deploy them on JAVA AS 7.1.

Is this still applicable when I don't install a dual-stack but just a separate stand-alone java infrastructure? Which connections are possible/needed if I do so between the ABAP landscape and the Java landscape to read data from the database etc?
