Locked Server

When I am trying to mount MDM Server in Console hierarchy, the server is displayed in the Console Hierarchy Area with a Lock symbol. And when I right click on that server, it only presents me with options to Stop, Unmount and Sort Children with other options greyed out (Start MDM Server, Connect to MDM Server, Change Password etc). What can be done to restore the server, so as to start working with it?

Hi,

One possible reason colud be the version mismatch between MDM server and the client you are using for Console.

Please verify that you are using the same client as that of the server.

Our System Admin has resolved the issue and I am able to continue with my work. I will find out what exactly he has done to resolve the issue and I will let you know.

looks like your server has a password set . you can do other stuff only when you unlock it.

Hi z cognition,

Most of the times this error occurs due to version mismatch between the MDM server and the MDM clients

You need to amke sure that you are installing not just the same version but also the same patch and hotfix. ie for eg SP06 and the build must also match.

A slight difference in the build version is manageable. but not the rest.

You can try restarting the MDM server from your Services.msc from the system you have installed MDM .Also make sure you have the rights to Start the server if at all it is password protected.

Sometimes this problem can also be due to Database problem so also check your DBMS server and listener settings are correct.

If its a version problem try installing the latest matching package.It will just overwrite the old one.

Hi,

You must be getting warning symbol in yellow as a staus of your MDM server. This happens because MDM Server version is not compatible with that of MDM Console. Check the Console version Help -> About SAP MDM Console and check the server version from the installable.

Kindly install the proper version of MDM console and check.
