Assignment not making entry in Change Log

I have a Text field that gets populated by an assignment in a Workflow, even though the field is set to track changes, no entry is made in the change log.

If I manually type sometihng in this text field the entry is made in the Change Log.

Leaving me to believe that if an Assignment changes a field value it does not record it in the change log.

Anyone else seen this? Any solutions?

Hi,

Have you checked out the records for workflow(start step)??

If yes then Check out acts as a hiding mechanism in terms of change tracking.

Check out is nothing but you create a copy of records ,modify it and save it to original unless u check in.Check out and check in mechanism are treated as if record was not checked out and changes were done to original in case of Tracking fields.So Check in is not considered as a modification for triggering of Stamp fields).
