Dear Subramanyam,
There is no direct assignment for Plant to Contolling Area.
One needs to make assignments:
1. T. Code: OX19 - Company Code to Controlling Area
2. T. Code: OX18 - Plant to Company Code
Best Regards,
Amit
Note: For Information sake only:
T. Code: OX17 - Purchasing Organization to Plant
Other relevant settings, need to be checked:
T. Code: OKKP - Maintain the control indicator for controlling area
Select your controlling area then click on the activate components/controlling indicators which is in the left side, upside, the screen. In the Change view of activate components/controlling indicators : Details screen, there you check the check mark for Sales Orders in the Activate Components tab.

Hi SK
Just check wheather you have maintained the following assignments or not in your enterprise strucutre
OX18 --> Assignment of plant and company code
OX19 --> Assignment of Company Code to your Controlling Area
*OKKP --> Maintaining & activating the controlling area you have defined *

Dear SK
Please ensure that
- in OX18, you have assigned your Plant to your Company Code and
- in OX19, you have assigned Company Code to your Controlling Area
thanks

Dear SK
Apart from what Mr.Lakshmipathi has suggested
In SAP plant to company code assignment is a must but companycode to controlling area assignment is not a must
As Mr.Amit rightly pointed out there is no direct assignment between plant and controlling area
If this is a issue on real time FI person has to handle this ticket
If you are practising SAP then you must check when you have created the company code have you copied from the standard and also plant have you copied from the standard plant
Always both these Plant and company code is to be copied from the standard and used everything else you can create on own as new entries because these 2 has a lot of associated tables with them which also gets copied
If you have copied from standard plant this error maynot have occured
In real time company code will be created by FI person and Plant will be created by either MM or PP person

Raja
