Hi hari,
1)can anyone tell me the difference between SAP R/3 and SCM...
Check the very second post in the forum:
2)When will they go for SCM..
SCM can never totally replace R/3 since APO is a planning system and SCM is a execution system.
Example: APO can only create a planned order and check the conversion indicator but it can not convert it to Production order.
Not all components are planned in APO as it's more expensive.
3)Can SCM be a standalone with out R/3..
APO is not a stand alone system. It always needs a execution system like R/3.
I suggest you search the forum because this is a very common question.

Hi Hari,
The answers to your above queries are as follows:-
1)can anyone tell me the difference between SAP R/3 and SCM...
SAP R/3 - Purely execution tool with minimum features ie not advanced
SCM - Purely planning tool with maximum features and also advanced.
2)When will they go for SCM..
For Advanced planning purposes.
3)Can SCM be a standalone with out R/3..
SCM can be made and act as standalone without R/3 depending on user requirements.
Hope this will help you. Please confirm
