Hi,

XI 3.0 Installation process is as follows. In older versions NW 2004 there is no concept of installing ABAP+Java together.

First ABAP instance had to installation, on top of it Java Add-In for ABAP.

Then Netweaver components(XI) are installated.

1. ABAP

i) Central Instance Installation

ii) Database Instance Installation

2. Java Add-In for ABAP

3. NetWeaver components running on Java

i) Exchange Infrastructure

a) XI Components

1. Exchange Infrastructure Installation

2. Adapter Engine Installation

Hope it helps

Hi,

>How can I know which one to download?

That's the magical art of a SAP basis guru !

The trick is to read the master guide (and understand it...) before reading the instalaltion guide.

Olivier

Hi,

For XI 3.0 installation you have to first install ABAP and then Java add-in.

For the installation guide please go to SMP/instguides -> SAP NetWeaver 2004 -> Installation -> SAP XI -> Installation Guide - SAP Exchange Infrastructure 3.0 SR1 .

XI 3.0 is the "old" version, PI 7.1 is the very new version.

Thanks Markus

But my question is if I need to install XI 3.0 I need to first install Netweaver and later import XI content.

How can I import XI content .

You will need to install Netweaver 7.00 with usage type "XI". This will install an ABAP + Java instance. After that installation is done follow the post installation task in the installation guide which includes the import of the XI content (amongst other things).
