RZ10_Instance Profile Parameter(rdisp/PG_MAXFS) Reset

Former Member

Hello All,

we have ECC 6.0, OS-AIX and HACMP in cluster enivironment.

Few of our ABAP programes are giving run-time error as "MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING",

for fixing up this error we have identified paging parameter rdisp/PG_MAXFS,default value 32768; we have created new parameter(thru RZ10) set the value to 98304 in all the 3 instances(because of cluster environment).

After setting the parameter we have saved the Instance Profiles for all the 3 application servers.

Stopped the application & restarted it for enabling the changes but after restarting we could not get the GUI login. Can anybody throw some light on this issue.DB was started successfully.

Whle we checked the logs(/usr/sap/<SID>/wrk) we found an error log with following details.

    • INFO: sapcpe version: @(#) $Id: //bas/700_REL/src/ccm/sapstart/sapxxcpe.c#

    • ERROR: can't change to central Executable-Dir /usr/sap/ECP/SYS/exe/ctrun (No such file or directory) [sapxxcpe.c:1488]

The is very critical and affected our Production System,we are looking forward to all BASIS Gurus for an immediate guidance so that we may be able to overcome the issue related to SAP Instances not coming up after changes in Instance Profiles and Paging related issues as well

Thanks and Regards,

Aasmi.

Hai,

Since you are not able to start the application servers, first try to start the systems with the old profile value. This will bring the systems up, production will not be affected.

Then you can investigate on the issue and then you can go for the change with some maintenance window say in Saturday or Sunday.

Please check whether you have the links as specified in the document.....

I doubt that error has anything to do with your problem.

The unit for rdisp/PG_MAXFS is 8k blocks so ensure that if you are increasing it that you have sufficient disk space. By my calculations you would need 98304 *8 /1024 =768M

In the interim, as already mentioned, manually edit the instance profile and change the value back to it's original. There are also a lot of program errors related to "MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING" ...I would do a search on https://service.sap.com/notes first to see if any of the issues are related to your problem before changing any parameters.

Hi,

Thanku so much for your reply.

I want to confirm one thing.

In ECC Production we have cluster environment as i described before also.

Now if i want to change instance parameter should i changed in all instances i.e. DB+CL & two application instances?

Regards,

Aasmi G.

Hai,

Yes you have to change it in all the Instances, for this you can out the profile parameter in Instance profile of all the Instances (CI + Appl1 and 2). or the esay way is to put the profile parameter in the DEFAULT profile instead of INSTANCE profile. Putting in DEFAULT profile is common for all Instances.
