Install two SAP system on one host with different SID

Hi,

I have installed two SAP systems(NW2004s) on one host with different SID and same instance number 00.

After the second system installation my first system is not starting. Hence wanted to confirm if the same instance number is the root cause.

I get errors like

***LOG Q0I=> NiIBindSocket: bind (226: Address already in use) [nixxi.cpp 3172]

      • ERROR => NiIBindSocket: SiBind failed for hdl 0 / sock 6

(SI_EPORT_INUSE/226; I4; ST; 0.0.0.0:40001) [nixxi.cpp 3172]

***LOG Q0I=> NiIBindSocket: bind (226: Address already in use) [nixxi.cpp 3172]

      • ERROR => NiIBindSocket: SiBind failed for hdl 0 / sock 6

Since it says address already in use i have this doubt.

Can some one please confirm this.

Thanks

Imtiaz

Dear Imtiaz,

Yes, you should have installed with different instance number. The ports used by SAP for different services is very much linked to the instance numbers.

Veera

Edit: The best example is the message server, generally for instance number 00 the message server is 3600 for instance number 01 the message server is 3601 and for 10 it is 3610 etc.

Hello Imtiaz,

Did you not consult the installation guide before doing the installation !!

Not much to add.... you can't have 2 systems with the same system number in the same host.
