Multilingual field

Hi All

We have a text field in a qualified table which is Qualifier. Requirement is to make this field as multilingual. Is this possible? Any possible workarounds?

Hi Ravi,

All the text fields can be made multilingual.

Set the multilingual property of that qualifier to yes.

COnclusing that Qualifiers are not supported for multiple languages in MDM.

Hi Ravi,

You can very easily set the multilingual property for a Qualified table fields.

It allows you to set the Qualifier or even the Non qualifier to Multilingual as Yes in the fields property.

Just note to unload your repository before you can make any changes.

I have made the Qualified field as multilingual, but when I add a new value in the qualified table I am not getting the option of maintaining or displaying the Text field in multiple languages.

Hi Ravi,

If i hv understood u correctly then u want to see ur Text Field value in All languages at one glance.

If u hv maintained Repository in 3 languages say English, German, French & ur field is also maintained for these 3 languages then u want to c value of Qualified Text Field with all 3 values....

Is it so???

Then its not possible

If u login MDM Data Manager in English then u will c values in English.

If u login MDM Data Manager in German then u will c values in German.

And If u login MDM Data Manager in French then u will c values in French.......

...... Provided u hv Imported/Maintained data in all 3 languages for ur Text Field.

MDM doesn't convert them automatically from one language to another.

If ur Default language is English & u don't maintain data in French for ur Text Field, Then its value will come in English (Inherited from default language)

We can see the different language texts for the field after selecting the qualified table in DM in language details tab.

Hi Ravi,

U r right............ But for that u need to go to "language Detail" Tab.

Say ur logged-in in English...... Now go to Ur Qualified Table.

Add new value Say Test-English.

Now go to Language Detail tab.

Initially all language columns will hv same Value Test-English

In German[DE] column enter Test-German & in French[FR] column enter Test-French.

Now login into Data Manger with German language.

go to ur Qualified table & check that entry.............. it will show u Test-German as field value.

(Again if u go to Language Detail tab u can see all languages & respective values)

(I hope u hv set ur No-Qualifier Text Field as multilingual -->YES)
