Basic dates are the dates that have a binding character for time scheduling and for other related areas such as capacity planning.

Forecast dates are dates that you expect based on more detailed planning or on changes during the course of the project. Forecast dates have no influence on reservations, purchase requisitions, or current capacity requirements.

There are two sets of dates in PS

Basic dates & forcast dates

Basic dates is used for the capacity requirements, req. date of material components etc..

hoever for the forcast set of date is diff. from theForcast date we enterin the partial conformation of activity..

Forcast set of dates used for the baseling , fixing the planned dates at specific planning stage. For this purpose we copy thedates of basic set of dates once into the forcast set of dates.

changes to the date that become necessory at a laer stage are made to the basic set of dates. Therefore you can alwalys read the current status of time scheduling in the basic sets of dates while the forcast set of dates reflects your original time schedule.
