Mandatory text field (SPc. short text) when running DP82 (RRB)

We are running DP82 with RRB for the creation of quote from a WBS element. When selecting the option to u201CCreate Quotationu201D system request to populate a mandatory text field named "SPc. short text" (Sales pricing short text). Text is stored in VPKHEAD-VPKSTEXT.

We want to understand the reason SAP is asking to populate this field as mandatory: What is its purpose for DP82 process? Can we turn the mandatory field requirement off and how?

The Spc short text is for saving versions of sales pricing against the same project. If you have several versions when you click on the 'Sales Price View' button on the intial screen a pop up will appear to choose which version you'd like to use for pricing or saving a quotation.
