Hello
I was just wondering if it is possible to force the use of a specific coding mask for a specific project profile.
For example lets say there are 2 project profiles:
1. Operational Projects
2. Capital Projects
I would like to ensure that users always use coding mask starting with "O" for operational projects and coding mask that starts with "C" for Capital projects.
Any input would be appreciated and points awarded.
Thanks
Ian
Your Question is interesting. This is genuene requirement & standard PS functionality should satisfy...
But I feel that, we cannot restrict to use project coding mask based on specific project profile in standard PS functionality...
This can be achieve via
1. ABAP development...
2. Validation / Substition
I request all to share / validate.

Hi Nitin
Thanks for your reply. Points have been awarded.
I agree, it does not seem possible to use standard functionality to perform this check. I was hoping that I would be able to assign a coding mask to the project profile - unfortunately this is not possible.
Ideally it would be good to have an exit that runs when selecting or finding the next available project number. Unfortunately in CJ20N the project definition number or next available project number screen can be selected before the project profile is selected. This is not ideal as the user would only find out after the profile has been entered that the number is not valid.
Please share your thoughts experiences on this issue. Unfortunately I cannot rely on the end users to select the correct project mask when creating a new project.
Thanks in advance.
Ian
