kernel linux upgrade, sap not start

Hello;

I´m facing a problem, we have a client with Red Hat Linux 5, SAP NW 04 and ORacle, everything was running ok, until yestarday that the client made a Linux Kernel change from:

vmlinuz-2.6.18-8-el5 to vmlinuz-2-6-18-8.el5PAE, this was becouse the client server had more memory than the OS was recongnizing...

After the change, SAP does not start, the DB is open (checking in the BRTOOLS), but when launching the "startsap" or "startsap r3" command it hangs in the part of "checking database and do nothing ( i guess it cant connect to the RDBMS)

Any idea, there is no "startsap" log that is been writen to the Os..so im blind in this.

It will really help me we are going live in a few days.....

Thanks..
