Can we restart the BPM from a particular step after it has gone into error

I have a synch send step in a block in BPM which will go into deadline monitoring of the block if no response is available and then an exception is thrown and BPM is supposed to go into error. Can we restart the BPM from the send step after it has gone into error?Is there some settings to be done.?

Suppose i have two steps in BPM and suppose the BPM has gone into error due to step 2,but i want to re-execute from step 1 after restart,is it possible?

In my opinion it restarts from first step.

In This case restart workflow from tcode SWPR and SWPC in case XI system is restarted.
