SLFN: check before save BADI ?

Is there a kind of check before save BADI for transaction type SLFN?

I try to set field 'category' mandatory when a certain status is selected

BADI CRM_ORDER_STATUS: renders the current selected status but not if at that time any category is selected.

BADI CRM_ORDERADM_H_BADI doesn't give any information of the current selected status or the current value of the field 'category'.

is there a general BADI before the save action which has all current selected values?

Try to create a Transaction variant. This is the only way wich I know. It is not depend on a status.
