CUP/AE: Email notification not working

Former Member

Hi all,

We are configuring SAP GRC v5.3 and we are not getting any email notifications for Role Approvers. When creating a role via ERM, the request is successfully generated on CUP during the Approval step but no notification emails are being sent to Approvers.

We have activated java mail on Netweaver, configured the SMTP server and scheduled "Email Dispatcher" background job on CUP.

Are we missing anything?

Any help will be usefull for us.

Regards.

Leandro.

What have your e-mail administrators said? Is there an e-mail being generated that is being blocked somewhere? You may have everything configured correctly resulting in e-mails being sent out, only to be blocked by spam/policy filters.

Thanks for your reply, we could finally solve this issue. There was a communication problem between GRC and SMTP servers.

Now we are facing the following issue. We have created an ERM Workflow with 2 approval stages for ERM requests on CUP.

We are receiving "next approver" and "approved" notifications according to the 1st approval stage but only "next approver" notification according to the 2nd stage, after the "email dispatcher" background job is executed.

Anyway, we are still not getting any "rejected" notifications after a role request is rejected at any stage of the workflow.

Any ideas on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Leandro.

Have you checked your rejected notifications? In the stage screen, you'll have to check whoever you want to receive notifications for the Request Rejected screen, as well as maintain the e-mail template you want to send out. If you are receiving e-mails for approved requests but not e-mails for rejected ones, then your issue is in the configuration of CUP instead of the e-mail server.

Hi William,

Thank you for your reply. We couldn't find a way to configure the notifications recipients in the "Notification Configuration" section of the Stage Configuration screen, since that section hides itself when you select the "ERM" option in "Workflow Type" field!!

On top of that, when you save a newly created stage and then want to modify it, this "Workflow Type" field becomes read only and cannot be altered, so in this case of workflow type "ERM" the "Notification Configuration" section gets hidden forever!!

So we've tried the following: we created a new stage and BEFORE setting the "Workflow Type" field to "ERM", we checked the required notifications settings, and then we set the "Workflow Type" field to "ERM". As a result, all notifications for approved request and rejected request finally worked!!

Apparently this issue of the "Notification Configuration" section getting hidden when you select workflow type to "ERM" is a bug, and we will report it to SAP.

Leandro.

Good day Leandro.

What was the comminication issue between GRC and the SMTP server? What was the resolution to the issue?

Thank you.

Leando,

We too are curious to know the answer to Michael's questions above.

Much appreciated!

Hi Jes,

The issue was that the email server was not defined in the host file of the GRC server.

Hope this helps.
