Had anybody tried J2SE 1.4.2_19 for SAP installation?

If so, no problem?

Hi,

What do you mean by SAP installation ?

The J2SE is enough to run Sapinst to install an abap stack.

If you need a java stack, then you need the JDK instead of the J2SE.

Hi Olivier,

I mean SAP installation as all varieties (A, J, A+J).

SAP didn't support J2SE 1.4.2_18.

That's why I used J2SE 1.4.2_17 until now.

So I wonder to use the update 19.

Did you use it?

Hi agian,

So you need the JDK and not the J2SE.

I use JDK 1.4.2_13 which is supposed to be more stable for SAP use than the latest releases...

If you want to download it, use the SEARCH button and you will find the unofficial URL to get it !

Basically I have used 1.4.2_17 instead of 1.4.2_13.

And I also understand 1.4.2_18 is not supported.

How about 1.4.2_ 19 ?

Hi,

SAP recommends that you always use the latest JDK version available. For more information take a look, for example, at SAP Note 723909.

Hi,

Well, when reading this note

[Note 716604 - Access to Sun J2SE and recommended J2SE options|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/716604]

It seems safer to stick to 1.4.2_13...

Hi,

the Note states that the usage of the latest JDK (_18, _19) is safe, as long you don't run it under Windows X64 or doing a Java Systemcopy.

The use of 1.4.2_17 x86 SDK (build b06) is recommended. With this JDK and Kerberos Authentication, you'll have to apply SAP Note 994791. Than you can use the JDK 1.4.2_17 without errors. So the usage of _13 isn't necessary any more.

If the SUN JDK is giving too much problem, one can change the JDK ...

Hi Olivier, Tobias,

Thank you for the reply.

I wasn't aware of the note updated.

It still seems to be better to use 1.4.2_17...
