Hi Anil

I faced the same problem and came to know that there are some microsoft patches which have to be updated which resolved my problem

May be you can try installing the latest Microsoft Security patch level and then re-install the Bex .

Thanks

Aashish

Hi,

Seems like your system couldnt able to resolve name from IP.

Try to ping the server from your system by using hostname.

Goto command Prompt and run this command;

ping hostname (Hostname of the Server)

If ping didnt happen, then add an entry in your hosts file(path is Windows\drivers\etc folder) like

<PRD IP address> PRD hostname

save it and check the application again.

Hope it helps

Hi KT,

Thanks for your response

I tried pinging our PRD hostname from local desktop and i am able to ping it.

Please find below the detials

C:\Documents and Settings\AS79444>ping vus650pc

Pinging vus650pc.in.telstra.com.au [192.74.195.46] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.74.195.46: bytes=32 time=226ms TTL=247

Ping statistics for 192.74.195.46:

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Our PRD BW 3.5 system has one CI & DB (vus650pc is the hostname) and 3 application server vus650pa,vus650pb and vus650pe are the hostname.

I tried pinging other three application server and it is also pinging from local desktop.

Hi,

Assuming like DNS is maintained for the Production systems.

Issue is not related to server, something has to be done in the desktop only. Try to reinstall

Business Explorer

MS Office

One more thing you can confirm it by checking the same with 2 or 3 desktops.
