Please helpout,

Can anybody please explain me Inspection stage & Inspection scope by giving example so easy to understand.

Inspection Scope

Inspection scope defines how the inspection will be carried out, what will be the severity of the inspection stage where this scope.

E.g

- 100 Inspection is a defined scope for the Inspection Stage 10, having only 1 inspection lot set.

- 40% inspection (Inspection with 40% samples or use the different inspection plan with less MICs, these two different Severity of inspection another scope, assigned to the Inspection stage 20.

10 lots of having this kind of inspection severity

- Now in the third stage (30), the inspection scope is SKIP for next 20 lots.

Summary of a DMR having above mentioned data / settings.

Inspection Stage Inspection Scope

10 (set as initial) 100% inspection for 1 lot (the first lot only) (Lot number 1)

20 Reduced (40%) inspection for next 10 lots (Lot number 2 to 11)

30 Skip next 20 lots ( lot number 12 to 32)

So system will response something like this......

The First (Lot number 1) lot will 1 100% inspection

Second lot to 11th lot (2 to 11 for this material) Reduced Inspection

12th lot to 32nd lot (12 to 32v lot for this material) will be set Skip.

The 33rd lot will be again 100% inspection

34th to 44th reduced

45th to 65 skip

......

h3. Inspection Stage

In this field, you define the inspection stage.

You define an inspection stage by assigning an inspection severity (or by setting the skip indicator) and using the rules for an inspection stage change. Therefore, inspection stages represent a certain inspection scope or a skip.

Inspection stages are defined in a dynamic modification rule.

In QM, the inspection stage describes a test or inspection status that is based on the inspection history and predefined rules. Different inspection stages mean that there are also different inspection scopes and/or inspection severities.

For each inspection stage, we can define the conditions under which the system changes the inspection stage. There are always two options that apply to the conditions for an inspection stage: Accepted and rejected.

_The following can occur:_

- As soon as the predefined conditions for a rejection are met, the system switches to the new inspection stage given for this case.
- As soon as the predefined conditions for an acceptance are met, the system switches to the new inspection stage given for this case.
- If neither the conditions for an acceptance nor the conditions for a rejection are met, the system does not change the inspection stage.

The system first checks the condition for a rejection. If the condition for an inspection stage change with a rejection is not fulfilled, the system checks the condition for an acceptance.

Before you maintain stage changes, you must have entered all inspection stages on the inspection stage screen.

Procedure

   1. On the inspection stage screen of the dynamic modification rule, select one or more inspection stages, for which you want to define conditions for a stage change and choose Goto
      ® Stage change.

      The screen for maintaining the conditions for a stage change appears.
   2. Maintain the conditions for an acceptance and a rejection:

- Accepted (OK): In the No. of inspections. field, enter the number of inspections that must be completed before an inspection stage change can occur. In the New insp. stage field, enter the inspection stage to be used for the next inspection if the conditions for the OK case are met.

In an inspection stage that corresponds to a skip, you can also specify a maximum skip duration in days for an acceptance (in addition to the New insp. stage and No. of skips that must occur before an inspection stage change can take place). The system first checks the number of skips and then the skip duration. If the number of allowed skips has not yet been reached, but the skip duration has been exceeded, the system uses the next stage as the current inspection stage, based on the conditions for an acceptance.

- Rejected (Not OK): In the Rejections field, enter the number of rejections that must occur before an inspection stage change takes place. You can overwrite the value 1 that is proposed by the system. In the New insp. stage field, enter the inspection stage to be used for the next inspection, if the conditions for the Not OK case are met.

If the conditions for both the OK and the Not OK case apply, the system uses the conditions for the Not OK case to dynamically modify the quality level.

3. Choose Continue.

- If you have selected all inspection stages, the system automatically displays the dialog box for maintaining the conditions for a stage change for the next inspection stage. To go back from a dialog box to the previous screen, select Previous screen.

- If you have only selected one inspection stage, you return to the inspection stage screen.

On this screen, you can have the system check your entries. To do this, choose Edit ® Check.

The system sets the indicator StC for each inspection stage on the inspection stage screen for which you maintained a stage change.

*Inspection Stage means:* 
Description of an inspection status that is based on the inspection history and predefined rules.

In the R/3 System, an inspection stage can either be assigned an inspection severity or a skip. The conditions that determine a change to a different inspection stage also belong to an inspection stage.
