Error starting MaxDB on CE Preview 7.1 SR5

Former Member

Hi everyone,

I installed CE 7.1 Trial Version SR5 successfully yesterday. The server worked fine.

Today I could not start the CE System because the MaxDB was not started.

I tried the following command: dbmcli -d CE2 -u control,<password> db_online

This error occured:

ERR

-24988,ERR_SQL: SQL error

-902,I/O error

3,Database state: OFFLINE

6,Internal errorcode, Error code 9050 "disk_not_accessible"

20017,RestartFilesystem failed with 'I/O error'

Can anyone help me? As I said yesterday it worked that why it doesn't seem to be a general problem.

Best regards,

Olaf

Usually I/O errors means that the disk is damaged.... "disk_not_accessible"

Check your hardware.

Actually it means "disk is not accessible" - maybe the path to the datavolumes is wrong or maybe there is a permission problem.

Please let us see the KNLDIAG for this error.

Hi everyone,

I tried to analyse the problem and tested the connection.

After a couple of minutes it worked. But I have no idea why. I did not change any properties, just tested.

Thanks for your answers anyway

Hello Olaf,

Please post more details to get clear on the reported issue:

-> The OS version of the database server.

-> What is database version?

-> What File Systems are you using for the data/log volumes?

-> Please post the KnlMsg file < or knldiag if the database version < 7.7 >

with more lines before the "Error code 9050 "disk_not_accessible"" occurs.

-> Post the entries in the dbm.prt file around the time when you tried to start the database.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hello Olaf,

-> Could you please display KnlMsg File using DBMGUI or Database studio tools, please post more lines from KnlMsg File before the error occurred to understand what disk was not accessible during the database restart.

-> Please see the document to convert the KnlMsg to text format, you could use the protconv tool, for example, "HowTo - New knldiag Message File Format in MaxDB 7.7" guide is available in SDNs MaxDB 'HowTo' section:

Go at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/maxdb/main

Click on "HowTo - New "knldiag" Message File Format in MaxDB 7.7"->

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hello Olaf,

According your information, the problem was occurred

To attach the log volume 1 during the database restart:

"Thread 0x12A Task -

May be device F:\, where the log volume is located was not available during

Dear Natalia,

I have gone through many of your replies and solutions on SDN forum related to MaxDB. Wondering if you could help me in my crisis too.

I have recently performed a system copy changing the SID from the previous server to be able to configure our SAP PRD server. I have opted to go with SAPINST->system copy process with all the required inputs where it took me to the screen asking me to restore the MaxDB database and make sure that the database is in online state. The steps performed by me were as follows:-

prdserver1:sqdprd 6> dbmcli -d PRD -u control,pass1234 medium_put dbrecover /bac

kup/backup16032011 FILE DATA

OK

(Note: backup16032011 is the complete backup from the previous server)
