Re-testing of Expired Batch

Former Member

Dear Experts,

Some batches for materials got expired and we want to re-test the batches through QM which also should allow stock postings . We dont want to use either 08 or 09 inspection types as you know 09 wont allow material postings and 08 will affect the datas relevant to COAs . Please suggest how to carry out this.

Thanks.

Hello,

one solution could be

Activate 05 inspection type for these batches. Transfer the expired batches from one storage location to another.Lot will be created. You can do the posting

Hi,

I like to highlight one thing over here.

Stock posting of Expired Batches or Batches which passes the minimum remaining shelf life can be possible if Shelf life expiration check is deactivate for particulate movement type (which is 311 in your case - Inter storage location Transfer).

So if this check is active then system will not allow stock posting. In that case you have to deactivate check for particular movement type.T.code for the same is OMJ5)

And one more thing,

In std. SAP you can not use Stock of expired batches.

You will get error message,

Best before date/SLED 31.12.2008 of batch A0RM700031 has been exceeded
Message no. M7667

Diagnosis
You are attempting to post a batch for a goods issue whose shelf-life expiration date has been exceeded.

So you have to Change attributes of this massage no. from Error to Warning using T.code OMCQ.

Or

Change Shelf life Expiry Date of That Batch.

hello

Without 08 inspection it is not possible to have stock posting.standard SAP for expired batch it makes bacth Restricted.

If the batch status management is active in the corresponding plant, the batch status is changed to "restricted".

What you can do is run QA07. Batches under expiry will get restricted. do the retest physicaly and then unrestrict it.
