To review freight cost per kg for various customers on monthly basis

where to configure this freight and also is ti possible to get a report on the freight charges

I think this can be configured as a condition type in pricing procedure and also planning to add transporter as a vendor in partner functions

You can also consider the shipment and shipment cost

Yes.....configure the freight as a freight condition type with an appropriate access sequence.

Then you can create a pricing report for this condition type to pull up a report for the frieght charges per customer.
