Can anyone explain the functionality of MDM JCA Adapter? I am aware that it is used in communication between PI and MDM, but is that part of MDM or is it a PI component?
Are MDM Adapter and JCA Adapter same or are they different?
Hi,
MDM PI adapter is a part of PI.
In PI 7.1 u will find it & u can use it with MDM 7.1 & not with MDM 5.5.
Previously we were using File adapter of PI to send file to Ready folder of MDM. But now SAP has given separate adapter for MDM.
Thanks,
Maheshwari

Hi,
Check this for better understanding of MDM PI & MDM JCA adapter:
JCA is J2EE Connector Architecture
SAP PI use the JCA enabled Adapter Framework.
JCA is standard architecture for connecting the J2EE platform to Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), e. g. ERP, DBMS, etc.
To understand XI/PI adapter framework:

Hi ,
MDM PI Adapter available in MDM7,its not available in mdm5.5,
if you want to conect to PI you can configure MDM PI adapter,
you hav to do configuration in both side MDM and PI.
MDM 7.1 offers new functionality by implementing the MDM PI Adapter which enables direct communication between MDM and PI. The MDM PI Adapter delivers data to and pulls data from MDM by using the MDM Java API port functions. This enables a tighter MDM PI integration as well as message monitoring.
help.sap.com open MDM7.1 doc you will find details informnation about MDM PI Adapter, and configuration steps.
Cheers,
Raj
