Josh,

I think these are two different things.

KM - is more for the unstructured data that you have.

MDM PCM - is specific for the purchases that you need.

If you are asking on EP, if both of them can co-exist, the answer is yes. MDM has a business package and I think KM also has a business package that can deployed.

If your question is not answered, please clarify.

Regards,

Ravi

Hi Josh,

There is a good overview presentation about Rich Product Content Management with SAP NetWeaver MDM at https://service.sap.com/mdm -> Media Library.

Hi Josh

In short MDM PCM stores Product Content in a granular fashion that enables the creation of interactive online catalogs on one hand and hard printed catalogs on the other - using the same repository (database)

KM is a part of NetWeaver that deals with managing unstructured data within an organization (storing a word document in a fashion that is could be shared with colleagues)

A little More info:

SAP NetWeaver MDM enables the creation and management of rich product content, including management of complex product taxonomy and hierarchy. SAP

NetWeaver MDM allows you to manage any kind of structured information in any format – PDFs, audio, video, and product specifications. It also gives you the unlimited ability to search and work with information in real time. Plug-ins to desktop publishing programs maintains links between information within the page layout and within SAP NetWeaver.

And by automating the publishing of paper catalogs with a centralized repository, the platform can reduce the cost of print publishing by an order of magnitude – as much as 10 times – as well as dramatically improve the production process.

The knowledge management capabilities of the SAP NetWeaver platform address the need of structuring and classifying the entire spectrum of unstructured content, making it accessible to users and available for improving decision making. The SAP® Enterprise Portal (SAP EP) component of SAP NetWeaver delivers these knowledge management capabilities.

SAP EP provides you with a configurable set of connectors, repositories, and services, including a full-featured search engine that makes all unstructured information accessible to users.

Moreover, integration of such features with other capabilities of SAP NetWeaver creates a role-driven network of information, collaboration, analytics, and alert options across your organization.

I hope the information is helpful
