I am able to install SCM 5.0 but in LC10 , getting error "DBM ERROR , return code 4 , errror message database instance not found"

This message is purely for learning purpose and please do not ask me to create OSS message.

Hello Peter,

1) Please review the liveCache/MAXDB documentation at ::

For SAP liveCache documentation see the SAP note 767598 ;

Go to the link https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb < -> The Complete SAP MaxDB Documentation Set >

2) "I am able to install SCM 5.0 but in LC10 , getting error "DBM ERROR , return code 4 ,

error message database instance not found""

As already recommended by Ivan, please check that the liveCache instance was installed by you.

In more details, in LC10 -> LCA connection -> Integration you will see the liveCache name & the

liveCache server name. Logon to the liveCache server and run the following commands:

To display a list of all registered versions of the database software:

dbmcli -s inst_enum

To display a list of all registered database instances:

dbmcli -s db_enum

< See at http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/default.htm -> Tools -> Database Manager CLI -> Overview of All DBM Commands >

To display a short list of all installed packages:

sdbregview -l

3) If the liveCache instance was not installed, please follow the liveCache installation guide to install it,

as recommended by Ivan.

    • The SAP liveCache installation guide for the SCM 5.0 could also to be displayed at

service.sap.com/liveCache or https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache

-> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0 -> "Installation Guide - SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0"

< http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Business Suite Applications -> SAP SCM -> SAP SCM Server

-> Using SAP SCM 5.0 Server -> "Installation - SAP liveCache Technology on Win- SCM 5.0 SR3 " >

    • Please review the SAP notes::

875662 Importing liveCache version 7.6

919224 System requirement Windows X64 liveCache/MaxDB 7.5, 7.6, 7.7

863952 liveCache 7.6 Installation

    • For liveCache server installation you need the following media:

51032259_13 NW 2004s SR2 liveCache 7.6.0 Windows Server on x64 64bit

or

51033491 NW 7.0 SR3 liveCache 7.6.03

If you already checked/followed the SAP liveCache installation guide, please update with additional information:

Did you run the install of the liveCache server or client?

Did you have any problems during the liveCache server installation on the liveCache server?

What DVDs labels did you use for the liveCache installation?

< as you know from the SAP liveCache installation guide you need the liveCache 7.6 DVD & the Installation Master DVD >

Are you planning to run/install the liveCache and SCM on the same server?

Thank you & best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hi Natalia,

I appreciate your reply but there is no media 51032259_13(Live cache server installation) in SCM5 IDES version.

The media 51032921 with SCM2007 has required Live cache server installation.

Answer to your second question , yes I am installing Live cache and SCM5 on the same machine (Windows x64 , AMDX64 Processor).

Regards,

Peter

Hello Peter,

1) Please run the following commands & update with your results:

sdbregview -l

dbmcli -s inst_enum

dbmcli -s db_enum

dbmcli -d <SID> -n <servername> -u control,control db_state

2) Please check the connection settings for LCA in LC10 ->Integration

liveCache name/liveCache server name?

3) Run /ndb59 -> LCA -> Connection test

Click Details & post results.

Thank you. N. Khlopina

Hello,

-> According the output of the commands, there are no database kernel package installed on the server where you run 'sdbregview -l' command.

Did you run it on SCMSERVER server?

The MAXDB/liveCache client software of the version 7.6.00.29 32 bit installed on this server.

Are you running installation on the 32bit server?

-> The database instance ISC was not installed on server SCMSERVER.

You need to follow the liveCache installation guide & run Live cache server installation. And please pay attention that the liveCache server installation supported on the 64bit Windows server.

Please check www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0 ->

"Matrix of released OS platforms for SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0"

-> You could also display the guide from www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0

-> "Installation Guide - SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0 "

Run the liveCache installation on the server with the supported OS and select "liveCache server" In the Welcome screen, install the liveCache server or client.

-> Please review the SAP note to get more information about SAP MaxDB/liveCache client software.:

Thanks for quick reply...

Yes, I run the 'sdbregview -l' command on SCMSERVER.

I am running 32bit server. Looking to livecache OS matrix, 32bit is not supported for server. Its there any work around to install server on 32bit?

The database ISC is on SCMSERVER.

Thanks

Hello,

Could you install the liveCache on another server?

Please check www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0 ->

"Matrix of released OS platforms for SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0"

Please review the SAP note::

622709 Using the liveCache on 32-bit operating systems

As per OSS 622709 "The liveCache client is of course still supported so that you can use a 32 bit application server with a liveCache server."

How do I install liveCache server on 32 bit? As per instalation guide "Installation - SAP liveCache Technology on Win- SCM 5.0 SR3" it is suggesting to use installation master DVD (i am using NW 7.0BS2005 SR3 Inst. Master Windows Server on IA32 32bit). Following the installation guide, I do not get option of selection of liveCache Server Installation. The only option I get three options...liveCache Client Installation, HA - liveCache on first cluster node and HA - liveCache on an additional cluster node.

As per installation guide path....

3. In the Welcome screen, install the liveCache server or client:

n liveCache server

Choose SAP SCM 5.0 Support Release 3 liveCache liveCache Server Installation .

SAPinst creates a subdirectory for the chosen installation service below the current working

directory.

n liveCache client

If you intend to use liveCache with a server other than SCM, you need to install the liveCache

client software for the host where the SAP central or dialog instance runs. Otherwise, this is

not necessary.

Choose SAP SCM 5.0 Support Release 3 liveCache liveCache Client Installation .

Any suggestion!!!

As you already checked the SAP note::

622709 Using the liveCache on 32-bit operating systems

SAP only supports the Windows 32-bit platform for the liveCache server

up to and including SCM 4.0.

And you are running the installation of SAP SCM 5.0 system.

Please use another server for the liveCache installation.

You could see the "Matrix of released OS platforms for SAP liveCache Technology 7.6.0"

at www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0

We have started installation on 64bit machine for livecache 7.6. Livecache Installation is stuck on almost 20+ hrs on Create Database Schema. I have followed installation guide www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/livecache -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0

SCM is installed on 32 bit architect.

Could you suggest how to resolve particular issue and complete installation?

Thanks

What are the last lines in log XCMDOUT.log in your installation directory?

-> Are you using the "@" character in the passwords of the database users?

-> May be the issue is similar to the reported in the SAP Note 848436?

-> Please try to run the installation with default passwords:

control/control

superdba/admin

sap<SID>/sap

-> See the documentation at http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/default.htm -> Database Administration -> Managing Users

-> Conventions for User Names and Passwords

-> As SAP customer you have the option to create the OSS ticket on this issue, we could login to the system to review the problem & discuss the issue in more details.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Yes, we are using "@" character in password. Also I have started this installation erlier and did not get installation completion message. So considering that scenario, I have re-started installation using old installation paramerts in installation run sapinst and I am hangup on Create Database Scema.

How can I make sure and erlier installation installed successfully?

Under transaction LC10 --> Live Cache Monitor --> Operational Status is Green.

So I am not sure as erlier installation start went through or still i have to restart.

Thanks
