IGS Patch

Hello Guru's

I am new in sap Basis Admin and facing a problem that our igswd.exe service is not started in Development server,please any one guide me how to check the present IGS patch level in my development system.

Hai,

Try this at the OS level:

igspw -version

Version of igspw = 7000.0.2.0, here 2 means the IGS Patch level.

Hai,

Please go through the SAP Notes 931900:

There are two ways in which you can call the IGS monitoring page:

• Using the RFC listener: Start the relevant system and open transaction SA38 (or SE38). Start the GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN report and select the corresponding RFC destination. See also Note 995471.

• Using the HTTP listener: Call the http://<IGS Host>:<IGS Port> page in the browser, for example: http://localhost:40080. See also Notes 965201 and 959358.

The version number is displayed on the initial page. The penultimate character is the patch level of the IGS. Click the status to go to the status page and check whether the patch level of REGISTERED_PORTWATCHER and REGISTERED_INTERPRETER matches the patch level on the initial page.

With older versions, the version information is not contained on the initial page. Only carry out the check on the status page here.

Also check SAP Note 718267 to apply patch to IGS.

Hi Yoganad,

Thanks for replay ,

I go through the sa38, then Program name :- GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN,

Then "IGS destination = IGS_RFC_DEST"

after that is shows error massage "Could not reach IGS destination"

is it the wright way i am going or not

please guide me to check igs current patch level

Hello Gajendra,

Check in SM59- TCP/IP connection IGS_RFC_DEST exist or not. if it is not there then you have to create, but i think its automatically generated program.

Hello,

Check1 = Report GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN should work, if not next step

Check2 = RFC destination IGS_RFC_DEST should work, if not next step

Check3 = Tx SMGW -> Menu GoTo -> loggen on clients, under the column TP Name check if IGS.SID exists. If it does not exist then IGS has not been started. Proceed further

Check4 = Check if the IGS executables are available in the /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run and /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS00/exe folder.

Also do check the DEFAULT profile for IGS startup parameter definition

Hai,

Since your IGS is not running, first try to start IGS with the following command.

startigs -p DIR_INSTANCE/igs

For example startigs -p /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS01/igs.

Then you can try to execute the report and it should work.
