Change Plant in Outbound Delivery

Dear All,

Is it possible to change the Plant while creation of Outbound Delivery. While creation of Sales Order we maintain Plant 'X' but while creating Outbound Delivery the material is not available in Plant 'X' so we want to Change the same to Plant 'Y' without changing the Plant 'X in Sales Order.

-->When you refer the sales order to create delivery you can't change the plant in the delivery without changing in the sales order.

-->While creating delivery shipping point is the one of the key organisational unit, but as per your requirement sales order will have one shipping point and you want to create delivery for different shipping point because different plant will trigger different shipping point, it is not possible and it not advaisable also.

-->One more point -If there is no physical stock in the deliverying plant system will not conform the schedulelines for that material in the sales order and system will not allow you to create delivey at this situation you can change the deliverying plant in the sales order itself.

-->So If you need to change the deliverying plant because of stock issue you better to change in the sales order itself.

-->Iam not sure ,not done practically,It may possible when the two plants have same shipping point.

Hi Sagar / Murali,

Good Morning.

Though 2 Plants have same shipping point, we cannot have one plant in Sales Order and an other Plant in Delivery, being Sales order is reference document for delivery.

Best is to run Availability Check in the Sales Order, so that the system proposes the Plant that has material available, which you can select and proceed with the delivery.

You can convince your client saying that this is the only possible way to do.

Hi,

When you create the delivery the shipping point is already determined. One factor of shipping point determination is the plant.

Shipping Point Determination   
Shipping points are independent organizational entities within which processing and monitoring of the deliveries as well as goods issue is carried out. A delivery is processed by one shipping point only.
Criteria for Proposing a Shipping Point
A shipping point can be determined for each order item. How the shipping point is determined depends on three factors:

Since shipping point is determined in the SO, for each order item, in my opinion you have little chance to be able to change the plant in the delivery document of which prerequisite is a valid, determined shipping point.
