batch determination

hi,

we use classification to avoid many material master data, so if i define material which is available in many sizes and shapes, then i will create only one material number in material master and i will use classification to define various lengths and width of the material.

my questions are :-

q1) if i create a sales order of such classified material,how will the batch be determined in delivery for a particular length and width.

q2) do we have to put the characterisitics like width and length in sales order too. where we have to put the characterisitcs in sales order.

Hi,

No need to maintain the width and length in SO#.

Just create your class using tcode CL01 with the characteristic that you wanted.

Then go to VCH1 to maintain batch search determination for your material and it will works for your scenario.

Hi

Maintain the stock (561) with classification and batch number , so that at the time of creating sales order batch will be detetmine automatically.
