I am unable to execute the component if i maintain the background user in SICF node for the webdynpro application.

Cannt I maintain the backgroung user in the SICF node?

shure. You can do that. I have also done the same in my application.

Hi,

Inorder to map background user for the WD application, go to the transaction SICF and navigate as below.

sap>bc->webdynpro->sap->choose your service, double click it. Choose logon data tab and give the credentials.
