My question is

1. I have structured a project

2. Defined dates for project and WBS

do not do this at this stage

3 Defined activities and duration

3. Defined relationships

4. went to planning board and then opted for bottom up scenario and scheduled it ....................

use free scheduling instead of bottom up

now when you schedule the dates from the network activities will go to the WBS to whihc the activites are assigned

then in planning board

Edit-> reconcile dates -> extrapolate

this will update the higher level WBs elements

are you sure you are doing free scheduling

also check the dates in past field

in planning board click on the options button and check the parameters

scheduling scenaio - free scheduling

for WBS - plan basic and forecast - open planning

WBS scheduling profile - forward

scheduling type - forward

sch method - network determine dates

no reduction

start in past = blank

make sure that all the dates in the project definiton and WBS are balnked out

yes, i have already check it and changed it and the problem is solved right now

tell me one thing, this "START IN PAST" is only for scheduliung ........??

i have cleared it and is working fine ........................does it has any impact anywhere else?????

for partially confirmed activities .........................are the following steps are good?

1. Partially confirmed activities.

2. free scheduling with shift order ...............scheduled it

3. now can i go for bottom up? ?????? any impact ???????? if i do schweduling with the following parameters??????????

pls confirm me whether i am going in right direction?

now that your basics is cleared

yes you can try bottom up now

set shift order as you want for partially confirmed activities

there should be no impact

but as a general rule ytou should usually follow only set of scheduling rules

for trial and error you can do whatever

start in the past is ot usually used as most project managers prefer today scheduling

i.e. what happens from now on
