hi experts
hi can we extend one material for two division ( material i can use in both division)
how????
by MM01 I TRIED ITS NOT WORKING
here we can extend the same material for another distribution channel and plant and sales organization
but i don't know @ division
Dear Hanumanth
Not possible sir
Division is not an organizational unit in SAP in MMR while creating MM01
This means while doing MM01 after inputting material type and industry sector you have to give organizational data like Sales Org,PLANT,DIST CHANNEL ,WAREHOUSE ETC
You will not find division there as a organizational data
It is a field which is there in basic data 1 and sales org data 1 in MM01
Suppose if you change from div 01 to 02 in MM02 then the material belongs to 02 only
It will not exist in both
As per standard SAP a material cannot exist in more than 1 division
No way you can create a single material for 2 divisions or extend the material to 2 divisions
Moreover the division is under the basic data 1 directly under client and can be used across all organizational units like different SO's and Dc's and plants so that all in the logistics(sd,mm,pp) can use it
And the basic data of MMR cannot be changed easily
After seeing our elite friend AMITH's reply i still say
In SAP MATERIAL IS DIVISION SPECIFIC
If you dont maintain division in sales org data 1 tab of MMR then the division from basic data will be taken by the system
Like a sales org is uniquely assigned to a company code in SAP the material is also division specific
If need be you can check with our MM friends
VOR2 will not be useful because it will not check MMRs
In VOR2 screen itself you can see it is for customers and conditions only there wont be materials mentioned in that img activity unlike VOR1 which is for customers, conditions and also materials

Hi Hanumanth,
There is no logic in extending Division in Material master, As u know Division is a org unit, which is based on Products, if u try to manually change the division in Material master also, there will be Business Area problem, because business area mostly trigers with ref to plant/division.
So dont try to do this, and doing a change in configuration is only advisable of any new products or new divison needs to be added, At first better be clear with your requirement, review your issue again. Changing division might be not the solution.

Dear Hanumant,
Very Much Possible
If, your requirement is to use a Particular Material in more than 1 Division, Don't maintain any entry in to Field: Division in to Material Master (T. Code: MM02 --> View: Sales:Sales Org1).
So, at the time of entring Material in Sales Order for any any Division, System will not throw any error.
Best Regards,
Amit
Note: The major draw-back of this MMR maintenance is:
For analysis purpose (Division-wise Sales), you won't get information, for this particular Material.

Hi,
As Mr.Ramanathan said the division is not an organisational unit in material master level. There is no logic in maitaining in two divisions, because the division is mostly for the product line. suppose the product is (bike light) then if you want to define in two division 01 & 02 what is the use.

Hi
You can extend the material to another dist channel , division and plant also .As you are extending just check the assignment part you made in the enterprise structure .
Check in OVX6 wheather (In enterprise structure the following data is assigned between Plants->Sales org./distr.channel)
Check in VOR1 and VOR2 data has been maintained or not
