Hi Friend,
As many others have guided you on this. There are many ways to begin with learning MDM.
MDM is an SAP developed tool to manage master data. But unless you fully understand what do you actually mean by master data and what are the problems one faces with master data you cannot manage it efficiently.
So in my opinion the first step in learning MDM is understanding the Master data at a high level and then get in to the Tool SAP-MDM to understand how MDM address those master data issues.
To know more on master data you can do a google search on the topic you will find a lot of information on master data and its problems and how MDM can address them:
Once you are confident in master data as a whole you can begin with practicing SAP-MDM as a tool to manage master data.
As a beginner you can use the the std rep and content as provided by SAP for begineer.
Kindly refer the below links in which you will find all relevant help on beginning with SAP-MDM hands on:
Kindly update this thread if your query is answered
Hope It Helped
Thanks & Regards

It should be useful for you to check your background first. Do you come from functional or technical side ? If you come from tech just follow the link the other colleagues post and dig in the tool. If you have functional background you can start reading documentation at high level and focusing about global and local master data, hierarchies, taxonomies, data flow, data governance, etc.
In my opinion best approach is not to go into MDM as a new tool but thinking deeply about master data as a whole.
