Hello SDNers,
When i try to start one of CRM instance, I am getting the below error:
[Thr 3036] Mon Dec 29 09:49:56 2008
[Thr 3036] profile G:\usr\sap\CR1\SYS\profile\CR1_SCS01_a2ms00015

ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED: Access is denied. [shmnt.c 2174]
[Thr 3036] *** ERROR => ShmCreate: Create (37,67072,1) failed [shmnt.c 506]
I searched for the same error in the forum, someone was saying it can be because it is taking the instance profile instead of the START profile. So how do i change the profile here?
I am using CRM 5.0 on Oracle 10g + Windows 2003.
Please advice on how to proceed.
Thanks in advance!
Abhilash
In the old kernels theres a executable called cleanipc... if your kernel is 640 or less you can call cleanipc XX where XX is the instance number and it should clean the shared memory. Once done start the system again.
Hope that helps

Hi Abhilash,
I faced similar issue in past on one of my server but when i rebooted host, it solved the problem. Please try to reboot the host and then start the instance. And let me know the result.

Hi Abhilash,
Greetings!
I had this same error when I was trying to start or execute the installation phase Start SAP Instance. I found the error in my case to be the Anti-Virus software that was installed in the Server.
Please try to deactivate the Anti-Virus software if you have any on the server and try to start the SAP instance after starting the DB.
Kindly get back in case you need further assistance.
Thank you
Regards,
Vineeth

Hello Kishore,
I have gone through the document.
But I uninstalled all the instance in the mmc, then restarted the system and again installed the new instance in the MMC (i gave the START profiles only) . But when i started the instance through the MMC, again the same error. The enqueue server is not coming up .
The developer trace gives me the below error:

Hi again,
Yeah, I tried to start the instance after logging in as sidadm only.
Also we have 2 instances currently running on this server. But both of them are facing the same issue.
Recently we installed one 4.7 instance to test an upgrade scenario and later uninstalled it. From that moment onwards the other 2 instances are not working

Hi,
Note 82751 - Problems with SAP Services & SAP Service Manager
ERROR CODE 5: (access is denied)
The named pipe that was opened by starting the R/3 System service SAP<SAPSID>_<instance_number> cannot be accessed. Log on with the correct user or check the user used to start the service.
Check the following:
1. check the service SAP<SID>_NR is started or not and also check which user is used to start the service. It should be SAPService<SID>
2. Check the user SAPService<SID> is not locked at the os level. If your installation is local installation then goto --> My computer --> Right click --> Manage --> on left hand side extract "Local Users and Groups" --> select Users --> on right hand pane you can see SAPService<SID> --> Right click --> Properties and check whether the user account is locked or not. Do the same for <SID>adm user.
If it is domain installation ask system adminstrator to check the users.
3. Check all profiles i.e instance, start and default profiles
4. Try to start SAP with user SAPService<SID>.

Hi,
First you check Start Profile at O/S level.
2nd you try to check Instance Profile at O/S level.
check the content there some thing might be changed at Start (or) Instance Profile.

Hi,
I guess you have not provided correct credential while starting the server. Please cross check the same and start the server in the following sequence.
1. check whether your database i.e. Oracle started or not. If not start the database.
Command > Goto cmd> sqlplus "/as sysdba" --> startup
2. Start sap from MMC. (It will prompt user name and password provide correct credentials)
