Description field in SC to be modifiable

Hi All,

Can we make description field modifiable based on some condition, for items selected from catalogues. we are on SRM 5.00.

I have tried the badi BBP_UI_CONTROl_BADI method BBP_SC_UI_CTRL ,however with no success.

Any pointer or anyone has done this would be of great help.

Hi Ifethker,

I understand your question but i am confused with your requirement. if you are changing the description field, it means that you are going to change "material master data" i don't think system will allow you to change in any case.

If user couldn't found proper product in catalogue then he can go for describe requiremnt and a create a shopping cart.

Hi Ravi.

This is a strange requirement in that case, some free text item are maintianed in the MDM catalogue. user can select them and change the description to some more meaningful word as the case may be and create PO.

I still dont know how we can do that ??

i think i can create a Z field in the SC item and user can enter meaningful description in the Z field and then i can change the actual description with the Z field in DOC_CHANGE_BADI.

Is there any better way to do that ??
