SLD settings for Enterprise Portal

Former Member

Hi!

I have the following SAP infrastructure on my server:

SAP Solution Manager with SLD (Port: 50000) (central SLD)

SAP BI/XI with SLD (Port: 50400)

SAP Enterprise Portal with SLD (not yet configured) (Port: 50200)

Question:

1) Is there document describing the SLD settings for Portal?

- 1a) what is e.g. the pro & cons to integrate SAP EP central to SAP Solution Manager?

- 1b) vs. local SLD activation on Port 50200

Any helpful information will be very appreciated!

Thank you!

regards

Thom

Hi Thom,

I would recommend to setup the Solution Manager as the Central SLD mainly because of the many benefits provided by the SolMan. In the longer run, the SolMan can be used for Monitoring the systems in the landscape and for MOPZ usage as well. In such cases, it would be an advantage if the SLD runs on the SolMan itself. Furthermore, our ITSAM colleagues too recommend to use the SolMan as the central SLD in a landscape for ease of monitoring and other activities.

Above mentioned utilities like Monitoring, Change Management etc directly get the input from the SLD. If the SLD is running on some other system - then extra efforts(SLD Forwarding) are required to make the SolMan extract the data from there. Rather, the SLD could be setup on the SolMan itself. We had this situation in our BS2008 implementation landscape which was inavoidable because of different releases of NW(700 and 701) in the same landscape.

Srikishan
