Hi Experts,

I am facing new problem in ECC 6.0 on windows as MS SQL SERVER 2005 as database as 700 kernel version .i upgraded my kernel version from 146 to 175, i start services of sap in mmc but it dont have ABAP work process and dispwork.exe is in yellow color.and i logged into the system as usual and connected and it is working fine and checked for kernel version in the system it has updated to 175 , checked the Tx SM50 all the work process are in waiting state.my problem is Dispwork.EXE is in yellow and ABAP work process is not visible.

Please suggest me what to do ? i will be very thankful if you solve the problem ...

I just had the same problem where Disp+work shows this message "Running but Dialog Queue info unavailable".

This was after I tried the kernel upgrade and then restored the old kernel version.

I fixed it by stopping and stating the SAP Services in Windows Services

I had checked startsrv.exe and replaced and started all services including windows services to,but i am geeting the same error.

Hi NAveen,

It seems your sapstartsrv.exe is not in sync with your kernel. I dont know whether you stopped services while copying kernel. If not there is a chance of not overwriting sapstartsrv.exe as it is already being in use.

Check versions of your kenrl and sapstartsrv.exe

Thanks,

Kiran.

Hello Naveen,

a few days back only i encounetered the same issue, please try this

when you upgrade the kernel,it gets replicated at two places.

so just check the location of your exe folders where the kernel files are placed,it must be at 2 places under usr/sap

just check that at both the places, disp+work.exe version is 175 or not?

I am very sure this is causing the issue

Let me know if it helps

hello Naveen,

the two paths must be:

drive:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64

drive:\usr\sap\SID\DVEBMGS01\exe

and if you want to update sapstartsrv.exe you will be able to get that from marketplace but I would recommend you to try the option that I have given you first

Hi Rohit,

I jusz check the Disp+work.exe in bothe Usr/sap../EXE..

there both Disp+work.EXE is in Present version(185),but Sapstartsrv.exe is in old version 146.it is not updating and i check sapstartsrv.exe in Service market place i didnt find any where.please help me in this regard.

the file SAPSTARTSRV.EXE is provided with the kernel files.

It must be prseent in the the kernel that you imported,if you do not find that in the exe directory,

then look at the place where you downloaded the new kernel from service marketplace

SAP delivers this file with the kernel

Rohit,

I extracted files and in the extracted files sapstartsrv.exe is not present...when i overwrite the files into exe it is using old one.the new sapstartsrv.exe is not present..iam Using Itanium server..

strange...the file must be present with the kernel files only

well....let me suggest you one thing..have you implemented this new kernel on any other system..if yes copy the file sapstartsrv.exe from that system to the system which is giving error..this should resolve your issue

Is it showing this message next to Disp+Work "Running but Dialog Queue info unavailable". if yes pls check your C:/windows/system32 contains sapstarsrv.exe executable must be in version 146 & copy sapstarsrv.exe from EXE directory & overwrite it Hope fully this must resolve.

Hi Naveen,

As you told it is working with older kernel and not working with newer kernel. I believe that this is some dll's mismatch only. Check your c:\windows\system32 directory you may find sapmmc.dll which is of olderr version. Once you applied newer kernel you can also get sapmmc.dll in your kernel directory. So you can register this newer one by deleting older one. This may solves your problem.

Thanks,

Kiran.

Hi All,

I request read and try to identify problem instead of giving stupid questions. He is unable to see the corrrect status in Microsoft management console. How it is related to support packs and others...

@Naveen,

I seen this problem in common at several places. It seems registration of some snap in dlls failed. you can see the exact information in your event viewer and try to reregister them if you identify any. Else try to recreate mmc snap in. It will solve your problem. If you need any help please feel free to come back.

Thanks,

Kiran.

Hi Kiran& Eric,

I saw in the event viewer nothing dlls missing if i go for previous patch level it is working fine and the process are running, whereas if i upgrade the kernel patch The Disp+work.Exe is in yellow mode .and ABAP work process are not visible whereas java work process are visible.I extracted sar files by keeping sapcar in one folder and i extracted in the same folder with one error and please tell me how to extract in another folder. Please help me in this issue..

copy sapcar in another folder and use this copy.

example:

d:

cd \usr\sap\prd\sys\exe\run

copy sapcar.exe ..

then:

d:

cd \kernel

\usr\sap\prd\sys\exe\sapcar.exe -xvf blahblah.sar

Do you have any dumps in ST22?

Markus

No dumps in st22 and before that it is generating so many dumps "CONVT_NO_NUMBER" "CX_SY_CONVERSION_NO_NUMBER" after patches updation one dump ie.,

Runtime Errors OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED

Exception CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL

Date and Time 22.12.2008 20:08:31

Error analysis

An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.

The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL', was n

caught in

procedure "MSS_DBCP_DB12_SCHJOBS" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated b

RAISING clause.

Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the

exception would occur, the current program is terminated.

The reason for the exception is:

You attempted to use a 'NULL' object reference (points to 'nothing')

access a component (variable: "G_GRID").

An object reference must point to an object (an instance of a class)

before it can be used to access components.

Either the reference was never set or it was set to 'NULL' using the

CLEAR statement.

How to correct the error

If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to

find an interim solution in an SAP Note.

If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following

keywords:

"OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED" "CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL"

"SAPLSFMSS_DB12" or "LSFMSS_DB12SCH"

"DISPLAY_JOBS"

after that there are no Dumps.

please suggest what to do?

Did you really only upgrade your kernel or did you also install support packages?

If you revert to the old kernel, does the error persists?

how have you upgraded the kernel? have you used SAPCAR from the run folder and extracted it from there? iof so, you may be missing some files.

stop SAP, extract in an empty directory, then copy the RUN directory and copy your extracted files in the RUN directory

if you have DIR_CT_RUN maps to somewhere else, also update this path.
