Why do we import NAST in smartforms program?
NAST: message status table.
What's the utility of importing this in our smartforms?

Nast has entries related to ur output type which is associated with the smartform, it contains output type name , language etc. which we may require at time of smartform processing.
Search on sdn u'll find lot of material on it.
