Unable to create SAP GUI connection through logon groups

Hello Folks,

Our client is using ECC 6.0, BI 7.0. We are using SAP GUI version 710, patch 5.

I am trying to create a connection to the SAP servers on the logon pad using GROUPS. When i key in the SID and the message server name in the respective fields and try to get the group server ID, the system returns:

hostname <message sever address> unknown. i have already checked that i am able to ping the host and i have also checked in the system profile paramters that the message server hostname is correct.

Also, i have made sure that logon groups do exist in SAP.

Am i missing something here?

Regards,

Prashant

yes, Juan is right...

add the following entry to your services file:

sapms<SID> 36##/tcp

where ## is the instance number

don't forget:

if you're using windows, add an extra blank line to the end of the services file
