Based on Experience/Expert Advice :

For 100 Mobile users scalable to 300-500:

Production:

CPU: 4x Quad Core - (Intel/AMD) - 64Bit

RAM: 16GB

HDD: 500GB

OS: Windows Server x64 2003 / Linux (Decide based on company policy, licensing and Service Market Place Product availability Matrix - http://service.sap.com/pam)

Development:

CPU: 2xQuad Core - (Intel/AMD) - 64Bit

RAM: 8GB

HDD: 320GB

OS: OS: Windows Server x64 2003 / Linux x64 (Decide based on company policy, licensing and Service Market Place Product availability Matrix - http://service.sap.com/pam)

I am doing the sizing for SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.1 (AS ABAP) on Windows with oracle database 10g and i went through your post for Development:

You have mentioned :-

Development:

Can you break up HDD size and show me . Also mentioned what all links or sources you went to get the above sizing for development.

Dear Vinod,

Even a 160 GB HDD configurationmight suffice, but I had sized keeping in mind the cost of HDDs these days, some hot backups the BASIS team might plan, space for latest SP releases / notes to be deployed to the dev system. I had also taken into account the minimum RAM requirements from respective installation guides.

I need some help from you.

I want install to SAP NetWeaver Mobile7.1 on Windows: Oracle and i have the Hardware/Software which are given below : -

RAM - 2 GB

Hard Disk - 100 GB

OS - Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition - SP2 32-Bit

Oracle - 10g

Is the above Hardware / Software are sufficient to install SAP NetWeaver Mobile7.1 and will the system will work OK or it will be very slow ???

Guide says about the software requirment as 64-bit :-

English international 64-bit version of one of the following:

l Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition

l Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

l Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition

Guide says about the software requirment as 64-bit but my OS version is 32-Bit

Is it comptiable for Mobile 7.1 ???

Please guide me if i can install NetWeaver Mobile7.1 ...

Dear Vinod,

The RAM you are having is too low for a server instance. As far as I know, the 7.1 installation is only available on 64bit platforms. This is a strategy by SAP wherein they want to move to better memory handling and addressable capacity provided by 64bit platforms.

Therefore you need a 64bit OS, Oracle 10g 64bit, i would advice at least 4GB RAM and 160GB HDD with 20GB of page filing/ virtual memory configured. These hardware specs are just meant for few user test / dev /poc installation and should not be considered for project scenario dev/qual/production.
