RE: Sizing

Hi Basis Gurus,

I have a question. In realtime, when I have to install a sap SYSTEM say R3. How do you size the system. Like how do you decide how many WPs we need to setup, what should be the database size. etc... I am new to basis. It could be silly question for you. But for me it would be more informative.

Sizing the system and the number of work process are entirely different. You can use quicksizer which is a SAP tool to size the SAP system ( http://service.sap.com/quicksizer ). The documents related to quick sizer are available in service marketplace.

To understand how many work process should be assigned etc should be calculated according to real time load on the system. You can also read through the memory management document to get a better picture of the work process allocation and SAP parameters.

These should help you start off...
