WAS J2EE Server Instance not starting.

Former Member

Hi All:

I've installed WebAS Java and done all the settings required to run any application on WAS. I didnt even had any problem in starting JC00 instance at this point.

But when i start installing EP on WAS, it got stopped at some point where it was trying to Start the J2EE instances. And when i open SAP MMC and try to start the JC00 it never starts, and remains as 'starting applciations'.

Plz let me know if any of u guys faced same kind of problem before and any sols for this issue. Waiting...

Here is the log for dev_server0:

hi Munna,

Don't open SAP MMC no matter what while the installation is going on. This gave me problems before.

btw, what is your Java heap size? it should be less than 1/4 th of your Memory. Check a blog by <a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2006/01/09/what-stops-you-from-a-successful-installation-of-java-system">Felix Jeyareuben</a> for further details on heap size.

Hi RK:

U mean if my memory (RAM) is 1GB, then my JVM (java) heap size should be 256 rite..!

Please correct me if i'm wrong..!

Hi AK:

Thnx lot for the responce. But after i failed from EP installation i never get a chance to start the j2e server0. What cud be the problem???I'm stucked here!

One more point where do i set the Java_heap size for my system??? Is there any file that deals with

java -Xms & java -Xmx & java -XX

or do i need to set them thru command line.

Even though i can't start the server, can i go ahead with the EP installation??

Waiting for the reply.

hi Munna,

Kindly go thro that blog for details on Java Heap size. you have to give it during the installation.

>But after i failed from EP installation i never get a >chance to start the j2e server0. What cud be the >problem???I'm stucked here

i don't understand by "u never got a chance". can u explain?

i guess you restart the EP installation alone. it will ask if u want to start a new one or continue with an old one? Select NEW INSTALLATION.

This means, after the EP installation was halted, i tried to start the j2e(server0) but it never started.

what cud be the problem. is there any java-heap size's issue involved.??
